About Us
Western Uranium & Vanadium Corp. is a U.S.-based mining company focused on the exploration, development, and production of uranium and vanadium resources. Founded in 2014, the company emerged from the acquisition of uranium assets from Energy Fuels Inc., including several high-grade mining projects in the western United States. Its formation was driven by a strategy to capitalize on the potential resurgence in the uranium market, spurred by increasing global demand for clean energy, and the ongoing need for vanadium in various industrial applications, such as steel production and emerging battery technologies.
The company’s portfolio includes several key mining projects in historically significant mining districts, such as the Sunday Mine Complex in Colorado and the San Rafael Uranium Project in Utah. These sites are situated within regions that have long histories of uranium and vanadium mining, with significant infrastructure already in place to support mining operations. Western Uranium & Vanadium is actively working to ramp up production at the Sunday Mine Complex, taking advantage of high-grade ore and employing advanced technologies like kinetic separation to enhance ore processing efficiency. Other projects, like the Hansen/Taylor Ranch in Colorado, represent significant potential future sources of uranium, with large JORC-compliant resource estimates.
Looking ahead, Western Uranium & Vanadium is well-positioned to benefit from a projected rise in uranium demand driven by increasing nuclear power generation worldwide. The company is also focusing on developing processing infrastructure, such as the planned Maverick Minerals Processing Plant, to support current and future mining operations. The expected growth in vanadium demand, particularly for use in energy storage solutions like vanadium redox flow batteries, provides additional opportunities for the company. As global energy markets shift towards low-carbon solutions, Western Uranium & Vanadium aims to secure a prominent role in supplying the critical minerals needed for these transformations, combining resource development with a focus on sustainable and efficient mining practices.
