About Us
Western Uranium & Vanadium Corp. is a leading North American mining company focused on the exploration, development, and production of high-grade uranium and vanadium resources. Founded in 2014, the company was established to seize strategic opportunities in the uranium market during the post-Fukushima downturn by acquiring valuable mining assets at favorable terms. Today, Western Uranium & Vanadium is advancing a portfolio of premier projects across the western United States, positioning itself as a key player in the global supply of critical minerals for clean energy and industrial applications.
One of the company’s flagship assets is the Sunday Mine Complex (SMC), a historically significant mining site in Colorado that was originally developed in the 1970s by Union Carbide. Acquired by Western to minimize initial capital expenditures, the SMC has undergone substantial investment to restart mining operations. Following a successful reactivation in 2019/2020, and a subsequent restart in mid-2021 after a temporary COVID-19 suspension, the mine is now fully production-ready. The SMC forms the backbone of Western's production strategy, bolstered by other key projects like the Hansen/Taylor Ranch Uranium Project in Colorado and the San Rafael Uranium Mine in Utah.
Western Uranium & Vanadium is also at the forefront of implementing innovative technologies, such as the kinetic separation process, to improve the efficiency of ore processing and reduce environmental impact. The planned Maverick Minerals Processing Plant will serve as a regional processing hub to support the company's mining operations and optimize resource recovery.
With a commitment responsible mining practices, Western Uranium & Vanadium is dedicated to contributing to the clean energy future by supplying uranium for nuclear power and vanadium for advanced technologies. As global demand for carbon-free energy and critical materials continues to rise, the company remains focused on expanding its operations and enhancing shareholder value through strategic project development and operational excellence.
